Façade Improvement Program

A Collaborative Grant Program between ADAC and the City of Auburn

Overview

In conjunction with the City’s Building, Planning and Development Department, the Auburn Downtown Advisory Committee (ADAC) is offering a façade grant program to downtown business and/or building owners. The “Facade Improvement Program” is a fifty percent (50%) matching grant, with a maximum grant amount of $2,500. 

The Program focuses on the improvement of existing buildings. Eligible expenses include exterior building improvements, exterior lighting, new and/or renovated signs and awnings, façade windows and doors, and similar projects. In addition to code and ordinance compliance, any facade improvement project shall be required to comply with specific design guidelines intended to retain and/or enhance the character and historical value of the Downtown Business District

Ineligible Activities and Businesses

The following activities are NOT eligible for grant funding:

  1. Newly constructed buildings
  2. Interior renovations
  3. Roof repair and/or replacement
  4. Decorative fencing and landscaping
  5. Permit fees
  6. Projects already under construction or completed projects

The following businesses are NOT eligible for grant funding:

  1. Tobacco discount stores
  2. Pawn Shops
  3. Check cashing stores
  4. Gun stores
  5. Tattoo and/or body piercing shops
